Registration Procedures
Bareboat Dual Registry
Bareboat Dual Registry
One of the advantages of the Panama Registry is the possibility that a ship already registered in another country may register in Panama for the duration of a charter contract without having to resign to its former registration. The bareboat registration dual registry is valid for a renewable period of two years.
The authorization of the original flagging state, as well as the ship owner's is required.
To process your Bareboat Dual Registration in the Panama Registry, fax to IMC: (507) 263-4737 the following documentation:
1. Power of Attorney, appointing a Panamanian attorney as legal representative of the vessel. The signature of the owner shall be notarized and then authenticated by the Consulate of Panama at the place where it is granted.
Panama is also a signatory country of the "Apostille" Convention, thus you may alternatively obtain the authentication from the Foreign Ministry of the country where the power of attorney has been granted (instead of the Consulate of Panama), provided such is also a signatory of the "Apostille" Convention
2. Application Form properly filled out.
3. Document of Compliance DOC (only for passenger, tankers, bulk carrier vessels and high speed crafts over 500 GRT) issued by a class society authorized to act on behalf of the Merchant Marine of Panama.
